Clearly the better team won last night in the Stanley Cup Final game 3 in Pittsburgh. Captain Sidney Crosby led the Penguin's with 2 goals and and effort for the ages. He put the whole team on his shoulders and made sure they came out of game 3 victorious. It looked as though the Red Wings were going to dominate the Pens as they had done so in the first two games early in game 3, outshooting the Pens 9-1 by the 13 minute mark of period 1, but Michael Therrien made sure to stop the bleeding when he sent out his 3 big guns together, Crosby, Malkin and Hossa. They sustained pressure on the Wings deep in Dtroits end and it seemed to lift to whole team aswell as the crowd. They never looked back from there. With about 4 minutes remaining in the first, the Pens finally broke Osgood's Stanley Cup Final shutout streak with a broken play by the Detroit defence, Crosby went hard to the net, and as we all know, good things happen when you go hard to the net and sure enough Crosby was on the score sheet for the first time in the finals. It didn't take him long to get right back at. Only about 3 minutes into the second the Pens struck again, and again it was Crosby beside the net banging in a loose puck for his second of the night. Pittsburgh ended up winning the game 3-2 and cut Detroit's series lead in half to 2-1.Check back with us tommorow as we will update the NBA Playoff situation.
One more thing, everyone please say a prayer for fallen Vancouver Canuck defenceman Luc Bourdon, who tragically lost his life in a motorcyle accident. Luc was just 21 years old and had potentially a super-star career in front of him. You will be missed Luc!
