US Open Finish Best in History of the Game, Thanks to Tiger Woods and Rocco Mediate...

It was like something out of a movie. Something you could only dream about being a part of. Something that if you didn't witness it live or on television, you might not believe what you were hearing. It was one of the, if not the most magical US Open finishes in the history of golf. The two men that made this possible were Rocco Mediate and, of course, Tiger Woods. As most will tell you and as the real unfolds, no one has given Tiger such a run as Rocco did this week. So much so, that an 18 hole playoff wasn't enough to settle the Championship, they had to play a 19th hole. And much to everyones true told fortunes, Tiger would prevail. But not without 45 year old Rocco Mediate doing everything in his power to put a stop to Tigers impeccable playoff record. We might never see a display of golf like that ever again, and I believe we were fortunate to see such a display.

The sportsmanship towered above any that anyone has ever seen before, Rocco smiling the whole day through and through and applauding Tiger's second shot into the 18th green on Monday. And you could tell how much it meant to both players, win or loose, when they embraced each other with a hug after arguably the greatest day in sports history.

What has this done for Rocco Mediate, has it put him on the map? Well I think so, no one has steadied Tiger as much as Rocco did, he did everything he possibly could...there is not a player on the planet that would have beaten Rocco Mediate yesterday at Torrey Pines, the Monday after the Open, are you kidding me? The only player that even had a chance of beating Rocco was Tiger, and guess what, Tiger did.

All our golfing hats off to Rocco Mediate and Tiger Woods on a spectactular display of what only those two warriors could have produced yesterday. We may never see anything like that again.

Congratulations Tiger and to Rocco aswell,

Thanks guys!

Pittsburgh Penguins Key Ingredient is Pizza...

As the order of Domino's pizza was rushed into the locker room in between the 2nd and 3rd overtimes, the Penguins new that this would be the fuel they were looking for. After a few slices of hawaiian, Petr Sykora fired a shot past Detroit’s Chris Osgood 9:57 into the third overtime for a power-play goal and a capper for 4 1/2 hours of terrific hockey. Sykora, prior to the start of the 3rd overtime and after a few slices of pizza, nonetheless, called the game winner saying "Guys, I'm gonna get one" and sure enough he did.
“The crowd was on its feet,” writes Mitch Albom in the Detroit Free Press. “The Stanley Cup was unloaded. The crowd got louder. The Cup was readied. The crowd was deafening. The Cup was on its way. The city was dreaming about a parade, ready for the biggest hockey party in six years — and then, with the goalie pulled, with 35 seconds left — oh, gosh, it even hurts to write it — Pittsburgh’s Maxime Talbot slammed a rebound in past Chris Osgood’s left foot, and the crowd, still standing, became 20,000 people who looked as if they’d just witnessed an execution. And in some ways, they did!
Mr. Albom also gives the Penguins their due: “How could this happen, you ask? Simple. When you got nothing, you got nothing to lose. The Penguins weren’t taking a Stanley Cup home this night, no matter what. They had no pressure. No crowd to disappoint. Nothing to lose. And under such circumstances, they found their best game. The Penguins were ferocious. They never let up. They had every reason to let it go, give in to the exhaustion, the injuries, the howling crowd. Instead, showing moxie beyond their age, they kept fighting.”
The series will resume on Wednesday back in Pittsburgh at 8:00pm Eastern time, and if last night was any start of hockey greatness, Wednesday will truely tell a tale all it's own.

Lakers vs Celtics, NBA Final Should Be A Classic...

The chanting in and of itself didn't mean much; in fact, it probably struck many as a bit sophomoric. And there's certainly nothing original about people in an arena chanting, "Beat L.A.! Beat L.A!" What gave it context Friday night was that the men proclaiming they were ready for the Los Angeles Lakers were the Boston Celtics, a newly earned silver trophy in their midst. Already, it was like old times, like the best of times.
Lakers-Celtics is the Yankees-Red Sox, the Duke-North Carolina, the Michigan-Ohio State of professional basketball. The Celtics have won 16 NBA championships, the Lakers have won 14 -- which means those two clubs have won nearly half of the league's 61 titles. Neither invented the game, but both defined it, refined it, made it relevant. Between 1959 (when the Lakers still played in Minneapolis) and 1987, the Lakers and Celtics played each other 10 times in the NBA Finals. The Celtics, with Red Auerbach and Bill Russell leading the way, won the first eight. The Lakers, with Magic Johnson lashing back, won the last two.
They are the pillars on which the league rests, and getting them to meet in the Finals for the first time in 21 years is a godsend for the league and television partner ABC after years of declining interest. Twenty years ago, a Lakers-Celtics championship series had become predictably boring to some, even with Magic and Larry Bird dueling. But two decades of absence has apparently made the heart grow fonder, especially because this 11th matchup comes totally and almost absurdly out of the blue.
A year ago today, both teams were stinkers. The Lakers were trying to figure out what to do about Kobe Bryant's pointed criticism of management and subsequent trade demand. Had Bryant been traded, it's pretty safe to say the Lakers likely wouldn't have made the playoffs, much less the Finals. The Celtics, having won a measly 24 games last season, were in even worse shape. They were mourning not winning the NBA draft lottery (again) despite having the league's second-worst record. And had they won the lottery and selected Greg Oden, they likely would be on a five-year building plan, but certainly not in the Finals.
It's been a while since the NBA had this kind of good fortune.
Each of the four major team sports in America enjoys a bump in popularity when its signature teams, particularly ones with championship pedigree, play for the championship. The NHL is overjoyed that the Detroit Red Wings and Pittsburgh Penguins are in the Stanley Cup finals. About the only thing better would be Detroit vs. Montreal. What helps is that the current members of both teams are old enough and appreciative enough to know the significance of the two teams returning to the final series.
"What pretty much got me started in basketball, growing up in Los Angeles, [was] watching the Lakers and the Celtics," Boston's Paul Pierce said. "And it's ironic, just being a Celtic, growing up, now you're playing against the Lakers in the Finals. As a kid, I hated the Celtics. I'm going back home to play against my team that I grew up watching. It's a dream come true, just thinking about it. I think that rivalry really revolutionized the game of basketball . . . and now I'm part of it."

Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins win game 3 against Detroit...

Clearly the better team won last night in the Stanley Cup Final game 3 in Pittsburgh. Captain Sidney Crosby led the Penguin's with 2 goals and and effort for the ages. He put the whole team on his shoulders and made sure they came out of game 3 victorious. It looked as though the Red Wings were going to dominate the Pens as they had done so in the first two games early in game 3, outshooting the Pens 9-1 by the 13 minute mark of period 1, but Michael Therrien made sure to stop the bleeding when he sent out his 3 big guns together, Crosby, Malkin and Hossa. They sustained pressure on the Wings deep in Dtroits end and it seemed to lift to whole team aswell as the crowd. They never looked back from there. With about 4 minutes remaining in the first, the Pens finally broke Osgood's Stanley Cup Final shutout streak with a broken play by the Detroit defence, Crosby went hard to the net, and as we all know, good things happen when you go hard to the net and sure enough Crosby was on the score sheet for the first time in the finals. It didn't take him long to get right back at. Only about 3 minutes into the second the Pens struck again, and again it was Crosby beside the net banging in a loose puck for his second of the night. Pittsburgh ended up winning the game 3-2 and cut Detroit's series lead in half to 2-1.

Check back with us tommorow as we will update the NBA Playoff situation.

One more thing, everyone please say a prayer for fallen Vancouver Canuck defenceman Luc Bourdon, who tragically lost his life in a motorcyle accident. Luc was just 21 years old and had potentially a super-star career in front of him. You will be missed Luc!

Osgood lucky Pens haven't turned up the heat just yet...

Is Detroit really that good? Is Osgood as amazing as the stats tell? The answer is NO. If you have been following the Stanley Cup Final you will see that it's Detroit's defence that is doing all the work. If you give the Penguins the chance to score, they will. Chris Osgood has not been tested in this series what so ever. Come'on, tell me that Chris Osgood is a better goalie than Malkin, Crosby and Hossa are players? It's a joke. Given the right opportunity Chris Osgood will need sunscreen to cover the back of his neck because the red light will be going off so much behind him in Pittsburgh when they find their game. The Pen's will light him up. He's lucky to have a defence in front of him or he wouldn't be playing...I still think he shouldn't be playing, it's only a matter of time until Detroit see's what kind of goalie Chris really is...a shitty one! Just wait until the Penguin's find their legs, Detroit will be shocked, they will loose the cup final in 7.

Pittsburgh will get the opportunity and they will seize the moment and it will be over for the Red Wings...and I mean over. Look for the Pens to route the Wings in the next 2 games outscoring them by a very large margin an I mean more than 7 goals...

Kobe and the Lakers rout the Spurs in Game #1...

Kobe Bryant exploded for 25 of his 27 points in the second half, and the Los Angeles Lakers erased a 20-point third- quarter deficit to stun the San Antonio Spurs, 89-85, in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals.
The MVP strapped the Lakers to his back with his 14-point fourth quarter, and his pull-up jumper with 23.9 seconds left broke an 85-85 tie. Manu Ginobili missed a three at the other end, and Sasha Vujacic's free throws with 7.3 seconds left sealed the win for the well-rested Lakers, who improved to 6-0 at home in the postseason.
